FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you request people to fill out an application for a puppy?

At the time a person requests to "Reserve" a specific puppy or to send us an advance deposit we do have some questions for you to complete along with the other paperwork that is required before purchasing a puppy. I do expect people to be prepared for the responsibility that comes with owning a puppy and what the breed requires. Puppies can be frustrating as they make messes (lots of them), puppies will chew things up and ruin things, they take constant care & supervision, they are expensive to feed, they are expensive to take to the vets for routine care & vaccinations & spaying/neutering, etc. etc. etc. please be SURE you are prepared for the responsibility you will be taking on before you decide to purchase a puppy. A puppy is depending on you to make the right decision & not take the responsibility lightly as he/she does not want to end up in a shelter. Your puppy must be given appropriate housing, he can not tolerate too cold or too hot of temperatures. He must be given premium food. I do expect people to give my puppies a great & forever home. Please do not purchase a puppy unless you are sure you can provide this kind of a home, because no matter how adorable that puppy is, you will not think he is adorable when he chews up your favorite pair of shoes:) WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT PLACE A PUPPY WITH ANYONE THAT WE FEEL WILL NOT CARE FOR A PUPPY/DOG APPROPRIATELY.

Are your puppies registered?

Yes, our puppies are registered with the AKC (American Kennel Club). All our puppies are purchased as "Pet/Companions" and are sold on a Spay/Neuter Contract that requires the procedure be done by 8 months of age. All puppies sold as pets have AKC Registration papers that will be "limited", this means that your puppy is registered with the AKC but that it is being purchased for a pet and no breeding/show rights are given, offspring would not be registrable. Your puppy may compete in events such as Obedience, Agility etc however it is not eligible to be shown in a conformation event. Full Registration which includes breeding & show rights are only given occasionally on a very limited basis and must be arranged in advance.

What are the health concerns of Boxers?

Like any purebred dog, there are health concerns. The Boxer can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, cancer (tumors in older dogs), allergies and heart problems. Before purchasing a Boxer, the buyer should inquire as to the health history of the sire and dam and be sure they are dealing with an honest breeder with integrity.

At what age do you let puppies go to their new homes?

They are ready for their new homes at around 8 weeks of age. The "Adoption Date" will be listed on the litter information page and is usually a Saturday.

Are we required to pick-up a puppy on the "Adoption Day" or are there other options available?

The Adoption Day is usually always on a Saturday and the Friday before is usually given as an option also. But yes, arrangements can be made if you would like to pick up your puppy after the Adoption Day. There will be an additional $15 a day boarding fee added onto the balance due when you pick your puppy up. If the puppy needs to be held for longer than 5 days past the Adoption Day you will need to make arrangements to have the Balance Due on the puppy paid in full to us by the Adoption Day and the boarding fee's would then be paid when the puppy is picked-up or shipped.

What is your policy on visiting?

We kindly ask everyone to wait until the "Adoption Day" to meet our Boxers and the puppies. We do offer the option of "Reserving" a puppy to assure its placement with you on "Adoption Day". This option is based on a RE-FUNDABLE deposit; on Adoption Day if you have a legitimate concern with your choice of puppy, our adults or the home they are all raised in we will refund your deposit. Please see below for our reasons behind our visiting policy. PLEASE NOTE: We typically have 4 - 6 breeding females and 2 studs. You will always find them in a clean, top care environment and they all have friendly personalities (if anything they error on the side of a bit to friendly).

What are the reasons behind your visiting policy?

Visiting policy's will vary among breeders, most but not all breeders will limit or have restrictions on visiting. Breeders give varying reasons concerning their policies, one of the most common reasons given is that puppies are susceptible to diseases. While that is a very legitimate concern, it is by no means the only reason visiting may be restricted. While there are those that limit visitors due to the lack of quality of their Boxers, the care given or the home and environment the Boxers are raised in, an honest breeder with integrity has other reasons for restricting visitors. In our case time is also a contributing factor. We would love to accommodate all those that would like to visit but unfortunately having many visitors is not conductive to running a busy household and properly caring for all those that call this home (both two & four legged). We put top priority on raising our family and properly caring for our Boxers and their babies first. We are also very aware that our new moms do not enjoy being disturbed by lots of visitors the 1st few weeks after giving birth. They are very similar to women that are new mothers; somewhat protective of their newborn, trying to recuperate and appreciative of some privacy. We love providing people with great boxers and believe the priorities set forth provide the best results for everyone involved.

Can we schedule a time to come and visit with you and your adult Boxers?

Due to living this close to Denver we get many many requests from people wishing to stop by for a visit. For the reasons listed above, we try to limit the amount of traffic that goes through our home. Should it be important to you to visit with our adult Boxers before making the commitment to purchasing a puppy we ask that you wait until we have some "available" puppies that are at least 8 weeks old, at that time you would be able to meet our adult Boxers along with having a chance to visit with the available puppies.

Would it be Okay if we bring our dog along with us when we come to visit you?

No, I'm sorry we ask people to please leave their other pets at home when they come to visit. There are many communicable diseases that could put our Adult Boxers & Puppies at risk if they were to be exposed to them.

How big do Boxers get?

Most Boxers are somewhere between 50 and 75 pounds when they have matured, with males being towards the top end of that spectrum and females at the lower end.

Are Boxers good with children?

Boxers make excellent family pets. They adore children and are very patient with them. Young puppies can be a little bit to playful for very young children, and must be supervised accordingly. If you have young children please be aware that no matter how good Boxers are with children, the children should be taught that it is not acceptable to do such things as pull their ears, ride them, or mess with them while they are eating etc. Boxers are not independent dogs and love to follow their family around from room to room all day long. With children being so active and Boxers always up for an adventure, it is easy to understand why Boxers & children are natural companions.
